Young people under 24 make up over 40% of the world’s population. By 2050, there will be over 1.4 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 24. Finding a way to mobilize this group can go a long way to solve the world’s problems–including climate change and energy access. A key barrier to youth action and engagement has been the lack of funding access. Current financing methods are not only insufficient to support young people; they are also unsuitable for young people, simply because there is a mismatch between what is needed and provided—a mismatch in terms of requirements and funding size, among others. The event will showcase youth entrepreneurs on the frontlines of the energy transition and highlight their needs, identifying the key factors to prioritize to unlock youth-inclusive financing and catalyze youth-led decarbonization.
