This event will contribute to the debate on the fairness aspects of the energy transition, exploring possible ways forward to address the employment and social implications of energy policies. As also discussed in the April CEM General Assembly in India, the latest IPCC report highlights that changing our lifestyles and behaviours can help lower significantly our energy consumption and environmental footprint while improving our health and well-being. Discussions will shed light and share experiences on how the uptake of sustainable lifestyles compatible with the planetary boundaries can further be promoted in a fair manner and how to equitably distribute the world’s finite global emission budget. The roundtable will bring together actors from different backgrounds and disciplines, with a view to developing a holistic approach to just energy transitions.
