Investment and Finance for the Clean Energy Transition in Emerging and Developing Economies

Investments in clean energy in emerging economies and developing countries - predominantly from private sources - must be scaled up to achieve net zero and development objectives. While record levels of finance are targeting sustainable/ESG/net-zero investments, challenges remain in channeling trillions into real economy investments in energy transitions.

There is a growing interest in comprehensive country level energy transition investment “packages” of domestic action and international support. While governments remain in the driver’s seat, platforms are being created that engage governments, public FIs, investors, industry and enabling partners including philanthropy.

The event will bring together stakeholders in the investment and finance space to discuss their respective roles in catalyzing investment in clean energy supply and demand; retiring of fossil assets; and investing in people and a just transition. The discussion will address both well-known barriers as well as emerging challenges such as inflation, supply chain constraints, and ‘de-globalization’.
